Columbus Zoo and Their Manatees

Columbus Zoo and Their Manatees

The Columbus Zoo recently bid a farewell to their two Manatees Barlett and Fraulein who will be released into the wild after the first of the year.   The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium are partners with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service’s Manatee Rescue and Rehabilitation program.  What does this mean you ask?  The Zoo brings in Manatees that have been rescued from the wild and cares for them until they are healthy enough and ready to rejoin the ranks of Wild Manatees.  So while for a lot of Zoo Visitors (me being one) who are said to see Bartlett and Fraulein go they are going to their natural habitat.  The Columbus Zoo will be welcoming Bernice an orphaned Manatee to the Manatee Coast where she will join Hamilton and Tippecanoe.
